Pinocchio, the puppet with a dark history

1. Collodi the author, in the beginning, had in his mind anything but a happy ending for the history of his Pinocchio: the author would have liked to end the story with the hanged puppet.
It was readers who complained so much that they pushed the paper on which mini-stories of Pinocchio were published, to convince Collodi to continue the story to end it as we all know by now.
To do this, it took another two years.
2. Among the many interpretations given to the work, there is also one of an esoteric type.
According to this, Collodi belonged to a Florentine Masonic lodge and the story, from this point of view, would be nothing but the initiation to find the authentic soul of the Puppet.
3. In the original story, tired of hearing the reproaches, Pinocchio kills the Cricket with a big hammer.
4. Pinocchio continues to be a story about death.

The story has 240 translations scattered around the globe.
And who knows if Collodi will be proud of the deviation taken by his puppet, which has become, in addition, the second film adaptation of Disney, immediately after Snow White.
